What happens to the waste after it’s collected?

When hiring a skip, you may be wondering what happens to all the waste after it has been collected. With most skip hire companies, the process is pretty simple and straightforward. Once the skip has been collected from you and taken away, it is then taken to a waste and recycling centre. This is where all the waste gets sorted and prepared to either be disposed or recycled.

Once the skip arrives at the sorting centre, this is firstly weighed to determine how much waste has been brought in. The waste is then sorted by workers and machinery who separate all the materials like wood, bricks, metal and general household waste.

When all the materials have been sorted, they will either be given a new lease of life or sent to another centre to be recycled into something new. Any materials which cannot be recycled are often sent to landfill or some renewable energy firms where waste can be used to turn into electricity.

Most waste companies generally share the same vision to aim to recycle as much waste as possible without it having to go to landfill. Depending on the type of materials you dispose of, most of these can now be recycled and used for a different purpose.

So, you can be assured that most of the waste you dispose will be handled in a responsible way as well as being eco-friendly way. By following this approach, everyone involved will be doing their bit for the environment.
